The makeup artist will make you look like a million dollars, but make sure you make it easy for them. It's the little things that make all the difference, says celebrity makeup artist Andrew Gallimore.

Clean and moisturize your skin beforehand. "It's essential that your skin is perfectly clean and well hydrated," says makeup artist to the stars Andrew Gallimore. “Taking care of your skin reduces makeup-related risks, such as makeup melting.”

Remove your makeup the night before. "That way you won't wake up looking like a greaseball," he says.

If you wear false eyelashes, make sure your real eyelashes are in good condition. "False lashes make a huge difference in the outcome of your makeup," says Gallimore, who recommends applying lash solution every night if you wear them frequently.

Avoid wearing liquid or cream foundations, especially around the eyes and mouth. “Liquid and cream makeup make you look older,” says Gallimore.

Use a primer if you apply makeup to your eyelids. Maisie Hill, makeup artist for L'Oréal Paris, agrees that the right base for eye shadow significantly improves the intensity of the color of the shadows and prolongs their wear.
